TRAINING ON ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND BEST PRACTICES

Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) personnel conducted a two day training course on “Environmental Awareness and Best Practices” at Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc. (BCGI) Mine Site at Aroiama. This training targeted 20 representatives from key departments with the aim of fostering an overall understanding of BCGI’s environmental performance requirements as well as to strengthen and improve best practice techniques and approaches and general environmental awareness.

The training covered a wide cross-section of topics related to bauxite mining and the environment and best practices along with introductions to national legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act and Environmental Protection Regulations, Mining Act and Mining Environmental Regulations as well as Codes of Practice.
