Tourism
Tourism is one of the key growth sectors for Guyana’s development. EMC has supported the development of key tourism infrastructure. EMC’s experience in the sector include:
- Conducted Environmental Impact Assessments for large-scale hotels in Georgetown and a major agriculture and tourism initiative on the Essequibo River.
- Conducted Environmental Scoping Studies for major sports tourism infrastructure in the Demerara area.
- Prepared Environmental Management Plans for hotels and resorts in Georgetown and the Demerara area.
- Conducted Environmental Audits for eco-tourism ventures on the Linden– Soesdyke Highway.
EMC’s Managing Director, Mr. Shyam Nokta previously served as Tourism Technical Consultant to the Government and played an integral role in tourism policy and planning and the setting up of the Guyana Tourism Authority.
