EMC’s Managing Director Shyam Nokta receives commemorative award on the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of the Strait of Magellan from the Government of Chile
The Managing Director of Environmental Management Consultants, Mr Shyam Nokta was on November 10, 2020 awarded on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of the Strait of Magellan by the Government of Chile. The prestigious award was bestowed upon modern-day innovators whose work represents the spirit of exploration and Mr. Nokta was recognised for his contribution in the field of climate change, the environment and biodiversity conservation.
Chilean Ambassador to Guyana, Mr. Patricio Becker, in presenting the award indicated “I have the honour of presenting you this symbolic recognition from my country, for your brilliant professional career, thereby wanting to reward the spirit of exploration, associating it with innovation with a global reach.”
Speaking at the event, President Ali lauded the work of Mr. Nokta. “We are aware of your significant contribution and we are aware of your technical capacity to achieve. For us, this is not a surprise. Perhaps, it is an opening of more moments like these…We must recognise the Government of Chile for recognising one of our citizens and we’re very pleased that a citizen of Guyana has distinguished himself to the international community, to the extent that he was honoured.”
