EMC Team Members Successfully Complete First Aid Training with the Guyana Red Cross Society
From March 11 to 13, 2025, eleven team members from Environmental Management Consultants Inc. (EMC) successfully completed First Aid and Emergency Response Training conducted by the Guyana Red Cross Society. This comprehensive program equipped participants with essential skills to respond effectively to health, safety, and security emergencies.
The three-day training covered both theoretical and practical components, ensuring that the participants are prepared to handle a wide range of emergency situations. Key topics included how to contact emergency services, assess surroundings for hazards, and respond to medical emergencies such as heart attacks, seizures, and allergic reactions. Participants were also trained on the critical importance of not administering medication unless they are properly trained and authorised to do so.
Hands-on training sessions provided participants with the opportunity to practice life-saving techniques. Participants demonstrated proper Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on both adults and infants, learned how to roll and place an injured person into the recovery position, and practiced safe lifting and transportation techniques for injured individuals. Additionally, participants were assessed on their ability to correctly apply tourniquets and splints to various injured body parts, including the feet, arms, head, vertebrae, and areas affected by eye and neck injuries.
