EMC Makes a Presentation on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability – AMCHAM Youth Program

Environmental Management Consultants Inc. (EMC) Managing Director, Mr. Shyam Nokta delivered a presentation on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability to a select group of young Guyanese entrepreneurs as part of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Guyana’s Youth Entrepreneurs Program. The event, held at Duke Lodge, Georgetown on June 24, 2021, brought together young entrepreneurs pursuing business development in the fields of gaming, retail, personal care services, agro-processing, human resource, animal husbandry, and logistics services in Guyana.

In his presentation, Mr. Nokta highlighted the importance of startups establishing a CSR policy early, with specific reference to sustainability in CSR, building an effective CSR strategy, and the accompanying social, environmental, and economic benefits. The presentation was followed by a candid discussion on the entrepreneurs’ ongoing projects and ideas, and initiatives that could help evolve CSR in their fields.

Mr. Nokta encouraged the young entrepreneurs to play their part in promoting positive change in Guyana. “CSR is a key component of inclusive and responsible business,” he said. “Rather than wait years for your startup to reach its golden potential, establish CSR initiatives from day one. As well as playing your part in advancing social and environmental change, CSR can boost company culture, attract clients and scale your startup.”
