Training Workshop on ‘Strengthening the capacity of EPA Field Officers to facilitate greater oversight of gold mining operations’

Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) personnel conducted a three day training course on "Strengthening the capacity of EPA Field Officers to facilitate greater oversight of gold mining operations" during the period April 26 - 28, 2016 at the Grand Coastal Hotel, Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara. The training targeted 24 field officers from the technical divisions of the EPA with the aim of improving their knowledge and understanding of the impacts of gold mining activities on the environment and to enhance their capacity to monitor gold mining operations.

Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) has provided technical support to the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, the National Focal Point to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) for the aligning of Guyana’s National Action Programme (NAP) to the UNCCD 10-Year Strategy.

Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) personnel conducted a two day training course on “Environmental Awareness and Best Practices” at Bauxite Company of Guyana Inc. (BCGI) Mine Site at Aroiama. This training targeted 20 representatives from key departments with the aim of fostering an overall understanding of BCGI’s environmental performance requirements as well as to strengthen and improve best practice techniques and approaches and general environmental awareness.
